A device for testing the tightness of cooling systems, heating systems or other closed piping and/or tank systems by means of pressure or vacuum, consists of a frustoconical rubber stopper (1) and a tube (3) sitting loosely in a central axial bore (2) of the rubber stopper (1). The end faces of the rubber stopper (1) are provided with pressure discs (11, 12), of which one (12) is connected to the tube. A disc-like handle part (17) with a cam body (5) is adjustably screwed onto an external thread (16) of the tube (3). Between the cam body (5) and the top pressure disc (11), a second cam body (6) is arranged coaxially to the first cam body (5) in a loosely rotatable manner on the tube (3). Both cam bodies (5, 6) are each provided with at least one helically running inclined plane (20, 21), the pitch of which is several times larger than the pitch of the tube thread (16). The rubber stopper (1) can be axially shortened by a selectable amount by rotation of one cam body (6) relative to the other cam body (5). The inclined planes (20, 21) of the cam bodies (5, 6) are gradually subdivided so that they can be locked in different angular positions relative to one another. <IMAGE>
