Process for air separation of extremely fine grained powder and device for carrying out the process

In order to classify powder composed of extremely fine particles, spiral air separator are often used. Such powders however are often inclined to form deposits in the separator which lead to the separation result being worsened. By means of a periodic adjustment of the carrier air baffles (5) using a hydraulic system (10) attached to the actuation lever (12) and by periodically reversing the flow of the coarse-grained discharge (9) with compressed air (11), the deposits can be prevented and the separation result can be improved. It is even possible to double the charging of the air separator with very good results. <IMAGE>
