PURPOSE:To improve the discharge characteristic by laminating the negative and positive plates formed by pressing an active substance layer against one side of a planar collector made of lead or lead alloy through a separator while burying an acid resistant mesh having liquid holding performance in the active substance layer of the positive plate. CONSTITUTION:Planar positive and negative current collectors 2 composed of lead alloy are secured to the inner sides of outer casings made integrally of resin constituting a portion of a battery jar. The portions 1a, 2a facing the through-holes 3a, 4a are utilized as the negative/positive outer terminals. The negative/positive active substance layers 10, 20 to be pressed against each current collector are formed by containing the active substance paste in polyethylene bag then pressing. Furthermore an acid-resistant mesh 5 having liquid holding performance is formed of such as graphite fiber having ability of absorb and hold the electrolyte and barried in the active substance layer. While a generating element is positioned in a resin frame 6 having the circumferential portion secured to the outer casings 3, 4 made of resin. A separator 7 made of glass fiber for absorbing/holding the electrolyte is placed between the negative and positive active substance. Consequently the cell performance is improved. |
