<p>PURPOSE:To treat sewage with considerably improved activity of microorganisms in the stage of decomposing and removing the org. pollutant in the sewage by aerobic microorganisms under the supply of O2-contg. gas by treating the sewage under specific conditions in a relatively long tubular flow passage. CONSTITUTION:An original liquid 1 of sewage and return sludge 2 are admitted together with circulation water 3 contg. microorganisms into the forward end part of a flow passage 5, and are moved in the passage 5 under the diffusion of the air supplied through an air diffuser 11 while the liquid is actuated with the hydraulic power of a pump 4. The value G expressed by the equation is maintained at 1,000-2,000sec<-1> during this time. The supply of the air to the diffuser 11 is accomplished by the air compressed to the pressure higher usually by about 1kg/cm<2> than the internal pressure of the long flow passage 5 by a compressor 6. The org. pollutant in the original liquid of the sewage is decomposed while the liquid moves in the passage 5, and part of the treated water 7 is fed to a settling chamber 9, where the liquid is subjected to a solid-liquid sepn. The remaining liquid is recycled as the circulation water 3 by the pump 4.</p> |
