A prefabricated planar building element (10), consisting of a plurality of individual building blocks (12) is composed in such a way that it withstands not only the stresses occurring in the erected building, but also the stresses in particular during transportation. For this purpose, adhesive bonding of the individual building blocks (12) in the cross joints (14) and/or the bed joints (16) is effected by means of a quick-setting adhesive, in particular hot-melt adhesive, by pressing the building blocks with the interposed adhesive abruptly on top of one another. A building element of this type can be used as a prefabricated wall element for a building to be erected. <IMAGE>
