The coupling of light guides requires not only good mechanical connections - it is also of very particular importance to guarantee good optical couplings in order for information present in the form of light to be able to pass with as little loss as possible from one light guide to the next. Plug-in connectors have already become known for this purpose, which require high expenditure on production, installation and adjustment and are therefore less suitable for cheap mass production. The object of the invention consists in providing a connecting device for connecting a fixedly arranged light guide (5) to a light guide consisting of a flexible optical fibre (3), which can be produced cheaply and largely independently of the tolerances of the light guides that are to be connected, and requires no adjustment operations for precisely opposing the light guides (3, 5). This is achieved according to the invention when the connecting device has a support device (43) by means of which the free end of the optical fibre (3) to be coupled can be clamped in such a way that the end faces of the two light guides (3, 5) always bear against one another under pretension after the coupling. This coupling is greatly facilitated by a two-part, resilient joint box (21) by means of which damage to the light guides (3, 5) is reliably avoided during transport or installation. <IMAGE>
