A ball-separating device for ball-projecting machines, which is used in particular for squash balls or tennis balls, has at the base of a ball storage container (11) a driven carousel (14) of the thickness of a multiple of a ball diameter and has essentially vertical passage openings (15), arranged on a circumferential circle, of a width slightly exceeding the diameter of the balls to be separated. The passage openings (15) are held closed at their lower end apart from in the region of a ball delivery point (19). A ball following barrier is situated in the circumferential region of the ball delivery point (19) with a spacing of about one ball diameter above the lower end of the passage openings (15) in a circumferential groove of the carousel. Said ball following barrier at least partially blocks the passage openings (15) and is constructed as a ring (23) which is mounted so as to be freely rotatable eccentrically to the carousel (14). The ring (23) can be supported, preferably by rollers (25), relative to a housing wall of the ball supply container (11) surrounding the circumferential surface of the carousel (14). <IMAGE>
