PURPOSE:To transform easily a yeast, by treating a yeast body with specific metallic ions, and bringing the treated yeast body into contact with a deoxyribonucleic acid. CONSTITUTION:A yeast belonging to the genus Saccharomyces or Kluyveromyces, etc. is suspended in a buffer solution containing rubidium, cesium or lithium ions in 10mM, preferably 50-100mM, concentration at a temperature as low as room temperature or below, preferably about 0 deg.C for about 1hr, and a deoxyribonucleic acid is added thereto. The resultant suspension is then allowed to stand at a low temperature for about 20min-2hr. |
