PURPOSE:To increase the capacity of a line, by using a repeater having the same capacity as that of a conventional system and changing the interval of reproduction and relaying. CONSTITUTION:An optical transmission line 51 is connected to optical amplifiers 12, 14 in repeaters 2, 4, and a signal passes through only repeaters 1, 3. An optical transmission line 52 is connected similarly to optical amplifiers 11, 13 by the repeaters 1, 3, and the signal passes through only the repeaters 2, 4. Thus, the line capacity is doubled by doubling the number of the optical repeaters inserted in series with an optical cable. |
