1293425 Coated products PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 28 April 1970 [28 April 1969] 20356/70 Heading B2E [Also in Division D1] A fabric softener composition comprises a substrate, a first coating consisting essentially of a solid, waxy, cationic or nonionic material and a solid outer coating comprising 30-100% by weight of a fabric softener, at least one of the first coating and outer coating having a melting point not higher than 170‹F and the weight ratio of the substrate the total amount of the two coatings is from 2:1 to 1:10. The substrate may be dense or open in structure. Suitable materials are paper, woven cloth and non-woven cloth. The paper may be of oneply or multi-ply and the non-woven cloth may be of fibres of wool, silk, jute, hemp, cotton, linen, sisal or ranie or of synthetic materials such as rayon, cellulose ester, polyvinyl derivatives, polyolefins, polyamides or polyesters. The waxy, nonionic material may be a polymer of ethylene glycol of molecular weight 950-7,500, a condensation product of fatty alcohol of 10-24 carbon atoms with ethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 1:10-40, a condensation product of an aliphatic carboxylic acid having from 10-18 carbon atoms with ethylene oxide in a molar ratio of 1:20-50, an aliphatic carboxylic acid of 12-30 carbon atoms, an aliphatic alcohol of 16-30 carbon atoms, a condensation product of an alkyl phenol the alkyl chain having 8-18 carbon atoms with ethylene oxide in the molar ratio of 1:25-50, monoglycerides, diglycerides, propionamide, N-methylamides of fatty acids having an acyl chain length of 10-15 carbon atoms, oleamide, amides of ricinoleic acid, and other materials which are listed. Numerous suitable fabric softeners are specified such as quaternary ammonium and imidazolium salts, zwitterionic quaternary ammonium compounds, amphoteric tertiary ammonium compounds, anionic salts and alkyl sulphonates.
|
