<p>Plant comprises a heat exchanger of the low press. instantaneous water-heater type, heated by gas fed cylinders. The assembly is capable of rapidly heating the contents of a tank and is easily movable to deal with other tanks. It has a partic. favourable power/wt. ratio and can raise the temp. of 50 hectolitres of liq. by 12 degrees C. in two hours. The exchanger comprises two co-axial metallic cylinders which are assembled hermetically at their ends to form a flat annular cavity; this is mounted as a vertical chimney over a gas burner. To increase the heating surface a copper spiral may be arranged inside the chimney and connected in parallel with the annular cavity. The plant can be connected in a detachable manner to a reservoir contg. the liq. to be heated; it is provided with a pump for circulating the liq. and it is notably for use in accelerating the fermentation of grape must prior to wine-making.</p> |
