PURPOSE:To prepare an alkyl ester of aspartylphenylalanine efficiently by the action of a microorganism, by using fumaric acid, ammonia and a lower alkyl ester of L-phenylalanine as raw materials. CONSTITUTION:A culture or a treated material of a microorganism, e.g. Pseudomonas putida TS-15001 (FREM-P No.159), belonging to the genus Pseudomonas, and having the ability to produce a lower alkyl ester of alpha-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine from fumaric acid, ammonia and a lower alkyl ester of L-phenylalanine is brought into contact with the fumaric acid, ammonia and lower alkyl ester of the L-phenylalanine at 10-50 deg.C and 4-7pH to collect the produced lower alkyl ester of the alpha-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine. |
