PURPOSE:To improve the electromagnetic converting characteristics, the wear resistance, the light shielding performance, the conductive performance, etc. of a magnetic recording medium, by setting the specific surface area of magnetic powder, the mean grain size of the magnetic powder in a magnetic layer and the content of titanium oxide at the specific value respectively. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording medium contains about 0.1-20wt% titanium oxide of about 0.01-5mum mean grain size in a magnetic layer to the ferromagnetic powder of about >=25m<2>/g specific surface area. Therefore no carbon black or an extremely small amount of carbon black is contained in the magnetic layer. This improves the electromagnetic converting characteristics of a magnetic recording medium. |
