2-PYRIDYLOXY ACETIC ACID ANILIDES, PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION AND THEIR USE AS HERBICIDES

Herbicidal 2-pyridyloxyacetanilides have the general formula (I) in which X represents hydrogen, C1-C4 alkyl or C1-C4 halogenoalkyl, Y each independently represents halogen, C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy or C1-C4 halogenoalkyl, and n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and are prepared by condensing compounds of the formula (II), with compounds of the formula (III), if appropriate in the presence of a diluent and/or a condensing agent. The compounds act selectively against weeds in rice-plant cultivations.
