PURPOSE:To lighten the burden of an operator, and to raise a throughput and recognition accuracy, by correcting automatically a recognition error with respect to an input pattern of the same character category which is generated again, in a character recognizing device for performing a correction by a visual inspection. CONSTITUTION:A character pattern train is read, a degree of similarity is derived with respect to each character pattern, and erroneously recognized candidate characters of a prescribed number are stored in a storage part 5 in order. When a read of one sheet of a form is ended, a character category whose degree of similarity is the top with respect to each input character pattern is displayed on a display part 6. An operator reads the displayed character catagory train, the executes correction by operating an operating part 7. In this way, the character category which becomes the object of the correction based on a visual inspection is stored in a buffer 8 in order. A comparing part 9 retrieves an erroneously recognized candidate character category which becomes the object of the correction, from the storage part 5, and performs the correction with respect to the input character pattern by the result of a comparison. |
