PURPOSE:To provide a flat type alkaline battery having prevented internal resistance increase at high temperature by specifying the ratio of the maximum electrolyte absorbing weight of an electrolyte absorbing material in contact with a negative electrode to the alkaline electrolyte weight in the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:In a negative electrode 5 comprising a gelled mixture of zinc powder, a thickening agent, and an alkaline electrolyte, the alkaline electrolyte weight in a negative electrode is specified to five times or more of the maximum absorbing weight of an electrolyte absorbing sheet 4 which is in contact with the negative electrode 5, then a flat type alkaline battery is formed. By this construction, decrease of capacity retention and increase of internal resistance during high temperature storage are prevented. |
