PURPOSE:To detect stress distributions of a web and unify the paper quality based on these stress distributions by running a web in contact with a roll buried with detection edges on the surface. CONSTITUTION:For example, five detection edges 9 constituted so that the stress in each of the X, Y, Z directions can be independently detected are buried in the axial direction on the surface of a detection roll 4, a web 8 is run in contact with this detection roll 4, stress distributions of the web 8 are detected by individual detection edges 9, these stress distributions are fed into a controller 6, which synthesizes three signals in the X, Y, Z directions for each detection edge 9 and integrates into signals indicating the stresses in five blocks in the width direction of the web 8. Next, an average value of these five stresses is calculated, and a damper 7 is controlled so that the hot air blowout quantity of a hot air drier 3 is reduced for the block with a larger stress as compared with the average value, and on the contrary the blow-out quantity is increased for the block with a smaller stress, thus unifying the paper quantity. |
