The composite magnet has a temperature variation of induction which is easily adjusted to the requirements of any application. The magnet consists of adjacent components, at least one of which has a temperature variation of induction opposite to that of the others. Components with a negative temperature variation of induction include permanent magnets of rare earth/cobalt, Alnico, hard ferrite or Mn-Al types. Components with a positive temperature variation of induction include materials with a plane or cone of easy magnetisation and ferromagnetic materials of the Co/rare earth type, particularly those with heavy rare earth elements having Z >/= 64.
