PURPOSE:To prevent a cold insulating layer from being frozen and damaged, by attaching a double flexible joint between an upper member laterally extended from a tank dome wall and an annular flange on a ship deck, and by charging dry gas into the flexible joint. CONSTITUTION:A double flexible joint 24, 25 which is made in a ring-like shape of neoprene group synthetic rubber, is attached between a circular upper member 21 secured to the top of dome wall 5 and an annular flange 22 on a ship deck 3. Dry gas such as, for example, nitrogen gas, at a pressure slightly higher than the atmospheric pressure is charged into a space 27 defined by the double flexible joint 24, 25 and the upper and lower members 21, 23. With this arrangement, sealing can be surely made and a cold insulating layer 11 may be prevented from being frozen and damaged. |
