PURPOSE:To provide a titled refining agent which enables the effective and preferential removal of Si in molten iron by making use of steel making slag as an essential component and blending scale, alkaline (earth) compds., etc. therewith. CONSTITUTION:A refining agent for desiliconization of molten iron is presented which consists of steel making slag alone, or >=30% steel making slag and <=70% scale, iron ore or sintered ore alone or a mixture thereof, or >=70% steel making slag and <=30% oxide, fluoride, or carbonate of alkaline (earths) alone or a mixture thereof. Otherwise further, the refining agent for desiliconization of molten iron is presented which consists of >=30% steel making slag, <=70% scale, iron ore or sintered ore alone or a mixture thereof and <=30% oxide, fluoride or carbonate of alkaline (earths) alone or a mixture thereof. The steel making slag melts easily by using such a refining agent and the molten slag contributes to desiliconization reaction. Since the iron content in the slag is recovered during refining and the yield of total iron is improved, the effective desiliconization is effected in a short time. |
