The invention concerns a device allowing the roasting of food in front of a heat source while facilitating the supervision and control of the cooking and seasoning. Of hollow cylindrical-spherical shape, it comprises an opening 8 facing the heat source. It is composed of two bodies A and B which can be fitted together and separated along a plane of horizontal aspect. The body A located below, comprises a base 1 opposing the radiation, an orifice 2 in the form of a spout, handles 3, bearings 4 supporting the spit skewer and a plate 5 comprising holes to position the spit skewer. The body B located above fits onto the body A by the arrangement 6, comprises a handle 7 and a half-plate 5 for positioning the spit skewer. This spit is particularly suited for roasting in front of an open fire and the construction in two bodies facilitates the positioning of the skewer spit and the supervision of the cooking. <IMAGE>
