In a mounting nut for fastening a component to be balanced to a spindle of a balancing machine, with a basic body with actuating levers arranged on it and having segments of a nut thread, mobility of the actuating levers relative to the basic body is achieved so that, when a mounting nut of this type is pushed onto a spindle of a balancing machine, the segments of the nut thread are moved out of the inner space of the basic body and only re-enter the inner space when the rotary body to be balanced is clamped in place by means of the mounting nut.
