The invention relates to a battlement-shaped stepped end measure having an elongated support body and a plurality of end-measure pieces mounted at a defined spacing from one another along a straight line. The support body, which is open at the top along a deep groove supports the preferably cylindrical end-measure pieces in the region of its longitudinally extending neutral fibre, so that deflections have scarcely any effect on the spacing of the end faces. So that the end-measure pieces can be clamped in a rectangular groove, it is delimited on one side by a continuous, elastically yielding wall which can be clamped by suitable pressure means in the direction of the end-measure pieces. As pressure means, consideration is given to clamping bolts, wedges or a taper gib strip or expanding material. The elastic wall can be formed from the solid, or it can be formed by a sheet metal strip which is worked into a corresponding slot and fastened therein.
