In an exercising apparatus with a crank and foot holders (9) in the manner of pedals, in particular for invalids and the physically handicapped, an inevitable movement of the ankle is produced by the fact that moving guide members (22) extending in radial planes engage on the foot holders (9) and produce a back-and-forth pivoting movement of the foot holders (9) relative to a fixed axial plane on rotation of the crank. In particular, the guide members can comprise rod-like extensions (22) of the foot holders which are connected in an articulated manner to the ends of single-armed levers (26) mounted at a fixed point (28). The angle size of the pivoting movement of the foot holders (9) and their movement position can be adjusted on the equipment which can be dismantled with the aid of plug-in couplings. Overloading of the ankle can be avoided by spring-elastic intermediate elements in the guide members. <IMAGE>
