In a screwing tool having a drive member and a work member, which are arranged coaxially in housing and interconnected by means of a disengageable coupling which is loaded by means of a spring in order to limit the transmissible torque, the coupling is effected by means of two mutually coaxial rings of equal-sized balls, which, when the coupling is engaged, overlap in the region of the gores and thus effect a locking in the circumferential direction. On exceeding the preset torque, the balls disengage, with point contact and compression of the spring. The use of commercially available balls entails a substantial lowering of the manufacturing costs owing to the reduced processing need. <IMAGE>
