The invention relates to a process for manufacturing containers from a section of heated thermoplastic film by differential pressure by means of circulating intermittently pivoted moulds and to a device for carrying out the process. The containers are moulded in a moulding station and punched, then transferred to a rim cooling station and after a further pivoting movement pass into the stacking station. The containers are then transferred to stacking troughs. During the pivoting, the containers are held on the mould wall by vacuum suction. In order to be able to pivot the moulds out of the mould station more quickly than was hitherto known and therefore to increase the number of cycles without a deformation of the still hot and therefore plastic container rim occurring, it is proposed that the vacuum for sucking the containers also acts directly at the container rim and that a cooling and post-shaping of the container rim take place in a rim cooling station. The drive of the rim cooling station is integrated in a simple manner into the overall drive of the device. <IMAGE>
