Process for burning carbonate-type raw materials

In a process for burning carbonate-type raw materials in a rotary kiln with an upstream preheater, for example to give cement clinker, the calorific value of waste materials is utilised by generating pyrolysis gas for the generation of heat in the burning process, namely by recovering a pyrolysis gas mainly low in ballast gas by indirect heating of the dried waste materials, the pyrolysis gas then being burned in the hottest part of the preheater. This measure achieves the greatest possible utilisation of the pyrolysis gas for the burning process, while restricting the pollution of the environment to the unavoidable minimum.
