The spring controlled knife with sliding blade, has the controlling force of the spring acting parallel to the axis of symmetry of the blade. The housing (1) has hollow parts containing the operating mechanism. Inside the housing are two grooves (7) which accommodate leaf springs (6) and with one end anchored in the housing. The longitudinal dimensions of the leaf springs (6) are parallel to the symmetry axis of the blade and bend during the sliding movement of the blade towards the blade or away from it. The free end of the leaf spring has an extended part with a nose-like end which engages with a corresponding notch on the edge of the blade.
