Stepladder

In a stepladder with two limbs (1, 2) which are interconnected in the region of their upper end so as to be capable of swivelling about an axle (15), the longitudinal members (3) of the one limb are connected to those of the other limb at a distance from the axle by a connection means (16, 17, 18, 19), each of its two pins (18) engaging in a respective guide groove (17) in each of the two longitudinal members (3) of the one limb (2) so that the means can be displaced in the longitudinal direction of the groove. Each of the two pins (18) is assigned a locking means, which can be actuated individually by hand and, with the limbs fully spread out, moved into its locking position, in which it secures the respective pin (18) positively against displacement in its guide groove (17). To make it possible for the stepladder to be moved from the use position into the transport position without requiring the two locking means to be actuated simultaneously using one hand for each means, there is provided at least one spring arrangement (32) which, by virtue of its spring force, counteracts the movement of the limbs (1, 2) into the fully spread-out position. <IMAGE>
