Processes for improving or maintaining the performance of particulate and other types of water- treatment solids, especially particulate ion exchange resins, filter membranes and media, and adsorbents, which have become or are liable to be fouled with organic contaminants, micro-organisms, and waste products thereof comprise treating these solids with non-ionic surfactant and bio-dispersant which is preferably an ethylene oxide condensate with propylene oxide adducts on propylene glycol. The treatment of the solids may be a batch process or a part of the in situ backwashing of the solids. |
