PURPOSE:To recognize accurately a straight drive steering state even through the steering position of a steering handle is shifted by the play degree of the handle, by setting an original point position with a wider range of angles than the play degree.f the prescribed rotational angle of a rotating body which is revolved in response to an external operation at the position of said prescribed rotational angle. CONSTITUTION:The position where a slip part 1c is turned opposite to a photointerrupter 4 is defined as the original point position of a rotary disk 1 and set in response to the handle steering position when a car is traveling straight. In other words, the position where the center of the angle width alpha of a slip part 1b is turned opposite to the photointerrupter 4 is defined as the center of the original point position of the disk 1 and this center position is set in response to the center of the handle steering position when the car is traveling straight. Here the angle width alpha of the part 1b is set larger than the play angle of the steering handle. As a result, the original point position detecting signals are produced with no interruption at the straight drive steering position of the car even though the disk 1 is oscillated by the play of the handle in a straight traveling mode.
