PURPOSE:To obtain a lead storage battery which is capable of preventing short- circuit even after the discharging condition for a long period of time by employing a separator consisting of glass material including boron oxide. CONSTITUTION:A separator of so-called retainer type lead storage battery, wherein electrolyte is non-fluidized by storing the electrolyte only in the fine holes of the positive and negative pole active material and in the fine holes of porous separator, is formed by borosilicate glass including boron oxide (B2O3) of 3.5 weight percent. Even if a battery is left for a long period of time after the deep discharging, the stable performance can be ensured without generation of short-circuitting, by using such a separator. |
