Process and device for winding textile webs onto lap rods

The invention relates to a process and a device for winding textile webs onto lap rods, especially webs of nonwoven or other light and superficially rough materials. Webs of nonwoven, wadding or other material sensitive to tensile force cannot be wound by conventional methods and devices, especially when the material web has a large thickness. To solve this problem, it is proposed by means of the invention that the start of the material web (11) be laid in an intially open elongate loop (13) around the lap rod (4) and introduced into a winding space (12) open on one side. The winding space (12) is formed by three rollers (8, 9 and 10) which are driven in the same direction at a speed increasing from roller to roller in the conveying direction. After the loop has penetrated, the rollers (8 and 9) move together, with the roller (10) being simultaneously lowered, as a result of which the winding space (12) for the lap rod (4) and the loop (13) is closed. The rollers (8 and 9), while being moved together, bring the inner faces of the hitherto open loop (13) into bonding contact with one another. The loop (13) closed round the lap rod (4) in this way is pressed against the lap rod by the rollers (8, 9 and 10) and set in rotation about the axis of the lap rod, the loop tightening round the lap rod and forming a first lap. After the initial lapping, the rollers (8, 9) move apart from one another again, with the roller (10) simultaneously being raised, and gradually open the winding space (12) to form a winding trough in which the lap increasing in size rests and is driven.
