PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of lens position by enhancing coupling efficiency and miniaturize devices by a method wherein a lens is hermetically sealed directly to a cap. CONSTITUTION:A stem 200 is composed by fixing a photosemiconductor element 204 at the center of a stem base 201 whereon an external leadout lead 202 is hermetically sealed with glass 203. The electrode of the photosemiconductor element 204 is electrically connected to the external lead-out lead 202 by a metallic fine wire 205. The cap 209 composed by hermetically sealing a spherical lens 206 of glass, sapphire, etc. with glass 210, etc. at the center is so mounted on the stem base 201 that the inside of the device becomes airtight. The spherical lens 206 is supported by the wall member 211 of the cap 209. Thereby, a photosemiconductor device of high reliability having a large tolerance of coupling with an optical fiber can be easily formed. |
