PURPOSE:To suppress double stage phenomenon, so-called the memory effect by adding a reduction agent to the negative plate in the form of aqueous solution before a negative pole plate is submerged into the cadmium nitrate solution and thereby lowering oxidation power of solution through reaction with excessive nitric acid ion when the negative pole plate is submerged into the cadmium nitrate solution. CONSTITUTION:The pores of sintered substrate is generally filled with the cadmium active material. Namely, first, a sintered substrate is submerged into the cadmium nitrate solution which is the raw material of active material, the pores are filled with cadmium nitrate, after cadmium hydroxide is precipitated in the pores by submerging the pole plate into the alkaline aqueous solution, it is washed by water in order to remove alkaline. In the case of this invention, the process, wherein soda nitrite is used as the reduction agent and after the washing by water for manufacturing said negative pole plate, the pole plate is submerged for 3min to the aqueous solution of soda nitride of 1%, is added. Thereby, oxidtion of sintered nickel powder occurring when the pole plate is submerged into the cadmium nitrate solution can be suppressed into the cadmium nitrate solution can be suppressed drastically and the memory effect can also be made vary small. |
