Given a book-type printed product, comprising a book block (3) and a jacket (1), the intention is to achieve, with considerably reduced production costs in comparison with conventional book binding, essentially the same use properties as in the case of a bound book. This is achieved according to the invention in that the jacket (1) formed by a single-piece cardboard cover exhibits, at least on either side of the longitudinal edges of the book block (3) which has been inserted, a longitudinal milled relief (2) which reduces the thickness (d) of the cardboard, and in that the cardboard cover is glued to the book block (3) along the regions (6, 7) of the longitudinal milled relief (2), to the side of the spine (4) of the book block (3). <IMAGE>
