PURPOSE:To minimize the deterioration of performance, to easily set an off-load dimension and off-load speed, and to make retract operation under a off-load attitude, by reducing the rub between a gimbal spring and off-load arm. CONSTITUTION:Under the off-load operation, off-load arms 22 and 22' move upward and downward and arms 224 and 224' push perpendicularly and bend gimbal springs 26 and 26' so as to open them, and bring magnetic heads 25 and 25' far from a magnetic disk 14. Thus the off-load condition is realized. Under the retract operation, when the off-load operation is completed, a carriage 35 retracts in the direction of Y outside the magnetic disk 14 together with the arms 22 and 22' through magnetic head assembling bodies 24 and 24' and a joint 34. Since the relative position between the arms 22 and 22' in both vertical and horizontal directions is maintained by means of sliding sections 203 and 203', guide rails 23 and 23', and the joint 34 at the time of retract operation, the retract operation can be performed while an off-load attitude is maintained. |
