PURPOSE:To reduce noise generated from a cover, by providing a plurality of slits, which are filled with damping members, on the cover mounted to an engine in such a manner as to be arranged along a mount surface of the cover with respect to the engine and longitudinally in substantial alignment with each other. CONSTITUTION:Slits 7 and 8 filled with damping members 11 and 12 are arranged along a mount surface 4 of a cover with respect to an engine 1 and longitudinally in alignment with each other. Accordingly, oscillation transmitted through the mount surface 4 from the engine 1 to the cover is effectively damped by the damping members 11 and 12, and therefore the transmission of oscillation to the flat portions 16 of an oil pan 2 is cut off, thereby preventing creation of noise from the flat portions 16. Further, as the longitudinal sizes of adjacent slits 7 and 8 are different, the natural frequencies of adjacent portions A and B of the oil pan 2 between the mount surface 4 and the slits 7 and 8, thereby generating interference of the oscillation created from the portions A and B, and damping the oscillation to reduce creation of noise. |
