PURPOSE:To reduce the error rate as a reference pattern when exceeding the reference value by multiplexing and taking in the prescribed range of the reference pattern from a sample and counting white or black bits in a window by moving the window. CONSTITUTION:A window for counting nXn (N>n) bits is scanned from left to right, from the upper left of a sample pattern of NXN inputted to a memory 1, while bits in the window are counted by a counter 3, compared by a comparator 5 with reference range 6. The nXn pattern in the window is stored on the prescribed location on a plural reference pattern memory 8 only when it is larger than the reference range. Then, the reference pattern memory 10 is controlled by a controller 8 to read out it, an inspection window of nXn is similarly moved by bit by bit, and pattern is recognized by sequentially correlatively calculating the pattern of nXn cut out from the NXN inputted to the memory 1 from the sample. According to this configuration, the adequate value of the rate of the white and black bits can be quantitatively set. Therefore, the reference pattern which is automatically taken in from the sample can be recognized in high recognition rate. |
