<p>Process for the production of 3-picoline wherein a first educt, consisting of acetaldehyde and/or acetaldehydeacetals and/or crotonaldehyde, is reacted with a second educt, consisting of formaldehyde and/or formaldehydeacetals and/or hexamethylenetetramine, in a liquid, aqueous phase at a temperature of 180.degree. to 280.degree.C. in a closed vessel. The reaction is conducted in the presence of ammonia and/or ammonium ions. The reaction is also conducted in the presence of anions of inorganic and/or organic acids, which at 20.degree.C. have an acid dissociation constant of 106 to 10-12.</p> |
