PURPOSE:To reduce the influence of scattered light, and to obtain rotation angle speed detecting sensitivity having high accuracy, by constituting a titled sensor so that polarized directions of clockwise and anticlockwise light propagated in a fiber intersect at right angles to each other by use of a polarization holding optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:An X axis is made parallel to the drawing at an incident end 7 and a Y axis is made parallel to the drawing at an incident end 8, in order that polarized directions of clockwise and anticlockwise light in an optical fiber intersect at right angles to each other so as to hold polarization of a polarization holding optical fiber. Transmission light of a translucent mirror 2 holds and propagates linear polarization in the X axis direction clockwise in the fiber, and linearly deflected light is emitted in the X axis direction from an emitting end 8, namely, in the vertical direction to the drawing and goes to a photodetector 5. Reflected light of the mirror 2 holds and propagates linear polarization in the Y axis direction anticlockwise in the fiber, and linearly deflected light is emitted in the Y axis direction from an emitting end 7, namely, in the vertical direction to the drawing, and interferes with said clockwise light. Accordingly, linear polarizations of clockwise and anticlockwise light intersect at right angles to each other, and scattered light of light propagated to one of them reduces influence exerted on light propagated in the other direction, by which detecting sensitivity having high accuracy is obtained. |
