PURPOSE:To contrive stabilization in controlling a lead angle, by setting a piston stroke position of a hydraulic timer so that an advance angle value becomes zero at a position whereon the piston stroke position is made larger than a position giving the minimum advance angle value by more than a variation width of the advance angle resulting from a variation of the torque. CONSTITUTION:As hydraulic oil is fed into a hollow part 12 from a hydraulic device 14 and pressure inside the hollow part 12 is adjusted by controlling an opening of a solenoid valve 18, injection timing is controlled by controlling a position of a piston 7. To give a starting advance angle thetao, the advance angle characteristics are set so that the advance angle value becomes zero at a position l2 wherein the advance angle characteristics are made larger by the displacement of a stroke corresponding to a variation width DELTAthetaT of the advance angle resulting from a variation of torque of an engine from a stroke position l1 of the piston 7 giving the minimum advance angle value. With this construction, even if the piston 7 is varied through the variation of torque when the advance angle value is in the vicinity of zero, the stroke position of the piston 7 does not become smaller than the position l1. |
