<p>PURPOSE:To control the flow rate of a pressure oil accurately by a method wherein in case where an air intake and exhaust valve for discharging the pressure oil in a high pressure chamber into a low pressure chamber by pressing a check ball, the check ball is pressed through a rod for a predetermined period of time. CONSTITUTION:The oil in an oil pan 33 is usually filled into the high pressure chamber 29. The check ball 51 blocks an orifice due to the difference in pressure between the high pressure chamber 29 and the low pressure chamber 27. Accordingly, a slide member 17 is locked and the air intake and exhaust valve 7 moves vertically. When a cylinder reduction switch 59 is turned ON, an electromagnetic valve 55 is excited for a time corresponding to the operation condition of the engine. In this case, the rod 63 lowers the check ball 51 to cause the pressure oil in the high pressure chamber to be discharged into the low pressure chamber and the operation of the valve 7 is stopped. Further, by controlling the time for exciting the valve 55, it is possible to control the valve timing and the amount of lifting of the valve.</p> |
