PURPOSE:To provide the press plate holding apparatus of a rotary press enhanced in wokability and safety of press plate mounting, constituted so as to mount a support member for holding and supporting the press plate by a safety cover provided in a freely openable and closable manner in opposed relation to the peripheral surface of a plate cylinder and a guide member for guiding the press plate in contacted relation thereto. CONSTITUTION:A safety cover 22 is closed during printing work and a press plate 39 used in the next printing is inserted into a press plate guide 26 provided to the safety cover 22 while the lower end thereof is supported by a pin 37. When printing is finished, the safety cover 22 is upwardly opened to be perfectly engaged by a lock apparatus. In the next step, plate lock up vices 40, 41 are loosen to detach the used press plate 39 from a plate cylinder 9 while the pin 37 is pulled out to withdraw the new press plate 39 from a press plate guide 36 and both end parts thereof are held between guide rolls 42, 43 to guide the leading end thereof to the plate cylinder 9. The leading end of the press plate 39 is fixed in algned relation to the reference orifice of the plate lock up vice 40 in the biting side of the plate cylinder 9 to wind the press plate 39 around the plate cylinder 9. |
