PURPOSE:To prevent a seek error and to improve the processing efficiency of a high-order device, by providing a magnetic disc device with functions to compare an objective cylinder address with cylinder address information included in the data and to detect the result of the seeking operation and retry the seeking operation. CONSTITUTION:An objective cylinder address signal (a) sent from a high-order device is inputted to a seek controlling circuit 2 and a comparison retrying circuit 7 as an objective cylinder address (b) inside the magnetic disc device. The circuit 2 drives a positioner 3 by a seek controlling circuit (c) to seek up to the objective cylinder, and at the completion of seek, sends a cylinder matching signal (d) to the circuit 7. Data including the cylinder address information is read out by a magnetic head 4, sent to the high-order device as data (f) and also inputted to the circuit 7. At the reception of the signal (d), the circuit 7 compares the cylinder address included in the data (f) with the signal (b), and when both signals coincide with each other, a seek completion signal (h) is sent to the high-order device. In case of dissidence, a seek retrying signal (g) is sent to the circuit 2 and the seeking operation is repeated until both the signals coincide with each other. |
