Prosthetic cochlear unit comprising a titanium casing 10 in the shape of a round box with a ceramic plate 32; several hermetically sealed passages 34 are formed in the plate, by sintering this plate after hollow metal tubes have been placed in holes in the plate, and by then closing at least one of the ends of each tube. An electrode cable connector 30 is provided so that the casing can be detached and replaced easily, even in the presence of organic liquids. A telemetric coil is contained in a metal tube which extends outside the casing; the two ends of the tube containing the coil are hermetically sealed in the casing by means of ceramic insulating bushes 14. <IMAGE>
