Stabilisers for vinyl resins, partic PVC, consists of granules contg. particles of a basic lead salt of an inorg. acid, bonded into granules by a liquid binder which consists of a >=10C fatty acid, liquid at ambient temp. a mixture of fatty acids contg. is not >40% wt. of is not >8C acids or a liquid phenol. The quantity of binder is 5-20% of the basic lead salt and its its m.pt. is 25 degrees C, the liquid binder opt. contains >=4% of a plasticiser, chlorinated hydrocarbon or liquid lubricant for PVC in sufficient quantity to raise the softening pt. of rigid PVC. Among the pref. constits. are cabbage palm copra fatty acid and para-nonylphenol. The Vicat softening pt. of the PVC composition is >=82.7 degrees C which is the figure obtd. using dry powdered tribasic lead sulphate. The stabilisers disperse readily in the PVC. |
