PURPOSE:To produce uniform thrusts of field legs in a linear motor by forming the sectional area of field legs at both ends of a movable element having 3 or more field legs at both sides of a permanent magnet larger than that of the legs disposed inside to supplement the leakage magnetic flux. CONSTITUTION:A pair of cores 21, 22 are provided at both sides of a permanent magnet 20. The cores 21, 22 have at least 3 field legs 211-213 and 221-223, each field leg has pole teeth rows (a), (b), (c) of the prescribed pitch, and wound with coils 51-53. The sectional areas of the field legs (211, 213 and 221, 223) at both ends are increased larger than those of the field legs 212, 222 at the inside to supplement the leakage magnetic fluxes 81, 82 thereby forming uniform magnetic fluxes between the pole teeth of a stator, not shown. In this manner, the thrusts of the respective legs are equalized, and the element 2 can be moved accurately in a direction of an arrow by the direction and the magnitude of the currents of the coils 51-53. |
