Tensioning device for yarn, which can be used on any type of textile equipment. This device includes at least one pulley 15 in contact, at least over a portion of its circumference, with the yarn, this pulley 15 being combined with braking means constituted by a permanent-magnet system. This braking system includes two rings of magnets 20-21, each ring having an alternation of magnets of North and South poles, a copper disc 24 being disposed in the space between the rings and being mounted on the support spindle 17 of the pulley 15. <IMAGE>
