PURPOSE:To change easily the quality of glass to be wound up by forming a day tank with a glass melting section, melting and bubble removing sections each provided with a section for charging a glass property regulating agent connected to the glass melting section with a throat and a riser, agitating sections, etc. CONSTITUTION:Starting materials for glass are charged into the glass melting section 20 of a day tank provided with a starting material charging part, and they are melted by heating with a plurality of electrodes 21. The molten glass enters each section 50 for charging a glass property regulating agent through a bottom throat 30 and a riser 40. In the section 50, a regulating agent such as frit is added and melted so as to change the properties of the glass. After removing bubbles from the glass in each melting and bubble removing section 60, the molten glass is sufficiently agitated in each agitating section 70 provided with a plurality of agitators 71 to make the composition uniform. The glass is wound up as quality changed glass from the glass discharging part 81 of each winding section 80. |
